Museums Sheffield's Millennium Gallery

Finding inspiration in Sheffield Museum's John Ruskin collection, Timorous Beasties presents A Bird in the Hand takes over the Millennium Gallery's craft and design exhibition space and turns Victoriana on its head. (click for more info)

"I am very excited to be involved in this exhibtion as I greatly admire Timorous Beasties, and what's more the exhibtion is based on the works of John Ruskin who greatly inspired my dad, Peter Fuller and his magazine, Modern Painters..And the exhibtion is in Sheffield, my husbands home town!"

 

Retro Kitsch

20-21 Visual Arts Centre

Retro Kitsch features designers and makers who are influenced by the revival in Kitsch fashions. Whether it be the swirling patterns and gaudy colours of the 1970s or the psychedelic fashions of the 1960s, Retro Kitsch features artists and designers influenced by exuberant designs and striking colours.

This selling exhibition of decorative crafts includes Jewellery made to look like strings of boiled sweets, Sylvie Fuller's beautiful ceramics and Vicky Scott's fabulous Art Nouveau inspired artworks, along with a whole host of brightly coloured and quirky objects and artworks.

This year the event will be brought back to its East London roots, while offering opportunities for all Hidden Art designer-maker members (both in London and the UK) to be involved. There will be more activities, and places of interest involved in the event, including a Hidden Art Fair as well as the regular studios opening their doors to the public, bringing a community feel to this exciting event and an increase in visitor numbers.


The Hidden Art map is produced every year to list and show the location of the venues and designer-makers participating in the Open Studios event.  The map is available free and can be requested online through the Hidden Art website.
A minimum of 50,000 copies of the map are produced, distributed to over 15,000 Hidden Art Open Studios past visitors and mailing list, distributed at key sites around London, and also this year will be inserted in a major London publication.
